A Comedy of Errors: An Unexpectedly Hilarious Night at Gun High School”

By jonasNov 3, 20230

Allow me to take you back to the recent performance of the Gun High School play, a whimsical tale of mayhem and missteps. The play – aptly titledThe Play That Goes Wrong" – is a comedy about a theatre company performing a murder mystery, where everything that can go wrong, does. The performance was enriched with physical comedy, and the set – a star of its own right – fell apart in a marvelous spectacle of chaos.

A scene that garnered roars of laughter involved the main lead getting knocked out by a swinging door. The abrupt vacancy on stage ushered in a surprise replacement - a harried techie. The pair ended up fighting each other with comedic violence throughout the play, but their rivalry was riveting enough to augment the humor derived from the collapsing set.

Sharing a formidable bond and a deep-seated passion for theatre were the dynamic duo – my twin offspring, Jack and Beverly. Proud members of the Gun Theatre Group, their dedication to this performance was commendable . Jack, the brilliant architect behind the disintegrating set and Beverly, the genius head of costumes and a talented actress, invested themselves completely in the project for months, culminating in a fantastic spectacle. The Lambus children, including my older kids, Rebecca and Audrey, have always prioritized their theatre classwork, sometimes even at the expense of their regular homework. The success of the play has been inspiring, especially hearing the praise and recognition from other teachers and classmates. This profound experience could very well shape their future.

We bear a lasting family legacy of the arts, my father being a renowned artist and sculptor. While I have not been significantly artistic, I intentionally raised my children to embrace creativity, inspiring them to be creators. As the curtain falls, my heart swells with anticipation for what the future holds for them. The greatest show is yet to come.
